The One Day It's Okay to Wear Your Sunglasses At Night

National Sunglasses Day is June 27 every year (Who Knew??!?). Sunglasses are so cool that they deserve their own day. Heck, they shade eyes from the sun and protect our delicate pupils from harmful UV rays. Best of all, they make you look COOL! Sunglasses have become such a fashion accessory and have moved from pure utilitarian purposes to simple fashion plates - for example, Kanye West and Lady GaGa.

So on Sunglasses Day, whether you are at home, at work or at school or even at night, raise up your favorite pair of imitation or designer - Ray Ban or hippy - Oakley or LED - vintage or Cartier - sunglasses and wear them in style. Let no one tell you to take them off, as it is Sunglasses Day and you plan on celebrating as it was meant to be celebrated!

~ SING IT WITH US NOW! ~
 but with that said. . . .

HAVE A GREAT NATIONAL SUNGLASSES DAY (or Night ;)

These Colors {Don't} DO Run !

Over the weekend our ortho assistants KP, Nikki, & Holly participated in The Color Run in Baltimore - a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.

"Less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. The fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,” using more colored powder to create happiness and lasting memories, not to mention millions of vivid color combinations. Trust us, this is the best post-5k party on the planet!"

With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:
  1. Wear white at the starting line
  2. Finish plastered in color

Now the single largest event series in the nation, The Color Run is exploding since its debut event in January of 2012 and will grow from over 50 events and 600,000 participants in 2012, to over 100 events and over a million participants in 2013.
Here's a vid of the colorful madness in action and be sure to check out the before and after pics of the girls below!

Be Healthy. Be Happy. Be You.

Celebs Embracing Braces

Not too long ago, adults were largely hesitant about the idea of braces, but studies are showing that the stigma of being too old for braces is increasingly diminishing.

As stated in an article from the LA Times, "Orthodontists cite a host of reasons for the growing acceptance of braces among adults. They're more affordable because insurance coverage for orthodontic work is on the rise. They're more comfortable and more discreet. Treatment times are shorter and fewer office visits are needed." Moreover, "there's ever increasing pressure to look one's best."

And none are more familiar with these pressures than the Hollywood set. Surprisingly, some of Hollywood's finest have actually publicly embraced their brackets, with Faith Hill debuting a beautiful set at the Grammy's last week.

That's not to say they're the hallmark of high fashion, but it's nice to see braces are no longer associated with tin-grinned train-track metal-mouthed tweens and unsightly headgear.

I think we all can agree that an attractive smile is a wonderful asset. It contributes to self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-image – important qualities at every age.
